Every year Learning Disability Awareness week is organised by the nationwide charity, Mencap. This year’s theme was ‘Do you see me?’ which all about being seen heard and valued, a theme which is very important to all of us at The Assist Trust.

One of the ways Assist choose to celebrate the week was to place a wooden tree at each site for the members to write something they are proud of and hang it back on the tree. The response was amazing and it was great for everyone to acknowledge their achievements and share it with others.

Some of the moments shared were-

I help other people.

I am proud of being a family person and being a good friend.

I am proud of doing my job, I help others and I am kind.

I look after myself in my own home.

I am proud of getting a paid job.
